The Civil Services Examination, which is more popularly known as the IAS exam, is one of the significant Nationality level examinations. The paper pattern of the UPSC exam has been created to check the real knowledge and ability of an individual who is appearing for the UPSC exam.

The Preliminary examination is the very first stage of the IAS exam, and it is mandatory for all the students to appear for the preliminary round. The preliminary round is made up of 2 different papers and each of the papers consists of 200 marks.
The papers have an Objective type paper model, and the students will get 2 hours to complete each of the papers. The language for the papers will be in both English and Hindi. But, the question set for the English Comprehension Skill will only be in English.
It is to be noted that the blind aspirants will be given 20 minutes extra to complete their examination. The total marks of the Preliminary examination are 400.
The aspirants who qualify in the Preliminary exam will be required to appear for the main examination. The main examination is very much important for every student, and they will need to follow the following table to get the details about the main examination.

The total marks in this stage will be 275 marks, and you will need to score brilliantly to pass this. The exam will be conducted at the UPSC Bhawan in New Delhi. The final rank of the aspirants will be declared once Stage 3 is finished.
